Sunday, July 31, 2011

Recently, Chevrolet Beat Diesel launched in India. The diesel version of Chevrolet Beat is priced between 4.29 - 5.45 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

An online news portal about auto industry - www.zigwheels.com, writes about Chevrolet Beat diesel, “However, seeing the growing demand for diesel cars in the country, GM has now introduced a diesel version of its Beat model, for which a lower capacity engine was specially designed for India application by GM Technical Centre India and GM Power-train Europe.”

Further the news portal adds, “Giving the Chevrolet Beat Diesel life is an all-new 936cc, 3-cylinder diesel engine that pumps out 58.5 PS of power @ 4,000 Rpm as compared to the petrol's 80-odd horses. But while, the power output on this new oil mill may seem a bit inadequate, a robust diesel torque of 150 Nm @ 1750 Rpm and its ARAI certified mileage of 24 km/ltr makes this stylish hatch, a real value for money proposition.”

About the engine of Chevrolet Beat diesel, the news portal writes, “This engine is India specific, and it's not available anywhere else in the world for now. It is set to be the smallest diesel in the Indian passenger car space yet. Although, the overall design and interiors of the Beat Diesel remains identical to its petrol sibling, some minor changes on the new oil burner include its tyre width, that has been downsized from a 170-section on the petrol to a 165-section on the diesel, on identical 14-inch wheels.”

About the price of the car, the news portal writes, “…PS model for 4.29 lakh, the LS for 4.59 lakhs, the LT for 4.99 lakhs and finally the top end LT (optional package) vairant for 5.45 lakhs (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi).” Will the car compete with New Ford Fiesta in Indian market?

Recently, stylish and sturdy sedan - New Ford Fiesta launched in India with the price range between Rs. 8.23 – 9.42 lakh for petrol and Rs. 9.27 – 10.42 lakh for the diesel variants in ex-showroom Delhi.

An online news portal - www.zigwheels.com about auto industry writes, “An embodiment of the American car makers ‘One-Ford’ ethic, the new Fiesta is a breakthrough both on the design and technology fronts. While the kinetic design philosophy has resulted in its curvy body, clean flowing lines and a rather sporty stance on the outside the dashboard and centre console on the inside draw inspiration from objects of desire such as high end watches and mobile phones.”

About the power and RMP for New Ford Fiesta, the news portal writes, “As far as power delivery is concerned, Ford has ushered in two all-new engines for the Indian market with the launch of this car. Both its petrol and diesel engines displace 1 .5 litres, and are mated to 5-speed gearboxes. The petrol Duratec Ti VCT featuring a twin independent variable camshaft timing technology churns out 110PS at 6045rpm and makes 140Nm of torque at 4500rpm. The 1.5 TDCi Duratorq diesels on the other hand produce 91PS of power at 3750rpm, and a rather stellar 204Nm of torque between 2000 and 2750rpm.”

Further it adds, “The petrol engine comes with an ARAI tested mileage of 17 kilometres to the litre, while the diesel delivers an ARAI tested 23.5 kilometres to the litre. Safety too has been accorded priority in the new Fiesta, with two front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and brake assist. Moreover, the sturdy construction is designed to keep occupants safe on a top priority basis even under harsh and hostile conditions.”

Delivery of New Ford Fiesta will begin by the end of August, 2011. Booking of the car has now opened at Rs. 50, 000. Will New Ford Fiesta compete with Toyota Etios Liva in Indian market?

Toyota Etios Liva
Recently, Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched the Etios Liva in Indian market. The car has been showcased to the Indian audiences at the 2010 Auto Expo held in Delhi.

An online news portal - www.zigwheels.com about auto industry, writes about Toyota Etios Liva, “The Etios LIVA is essentially the hatchback version of its sedan sibling, namely the Etios. Both share a similar design, albeit with the LIVA having a hatch instead of a boot. Having said that, the LIVA actually looks more complete and the treatment to the rear is commendable. Interior trim levels are shared between the hatch and the sedan; however the real difference lies under the hood.

So, Toyota Etios Liva is not very different from Etios. There is a little difference with the boot and hood in the both versions.

Further the news portal adds about the power of Toyota Etios Liva, “Powering the Etios LIVA is a 1197cc petrol unit that delivers 80 PS at 5600 rpm and generates a decent 104Nm of torque at 3100 rpm. Mated to a five speed gearbox, the engine has been tuned to offer exceptional mileage with an ARAI claimed of 18.31 kilometers to the litre. In real world conditions expect this number to drop, however the car should still offer a rather frugal figure.

So, Toyota Etios Liva has been designed to produce more power to the engine. The car offers more mileage than others.

About the price range of Toyota Etios Liva, the news portal writes, “The new Toyota Etios Liva has been priced between Rs 3.99 - 5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), and will be available to customers in 5 trim variants including an optional package for the G variant.”

Toyota Etios Liva offers the best looks and dashing design. The car is more affordable than its own product - Toyota Corolla Altis.
